Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixtowe Wind Direction: ne Wind Stength: 15/22 Surf / Sea State: flat and choppy Air Temperature: 15 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 29.87 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 37.91 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
What a lovely day - wall to wall sunshine - a nice breeze and low water
making the Felixstowe speed strip work, a bit chilly though only 15 degrees
with a cold North sea :( With low not until 3ish I was in no hurry to get
too The Dip, Mag and I arrived at eleven had a drink before she walked home
and I rigged up 7.5 on the 133 lt. and 6.4 on the 100 lt. Chris Stephens
arrived and rigged 6m so I decided to start with the big kit and stuck with
it all day. After a few runs in the open sea I beat up into the River Deben
to sail behind the shingle bar, to be perfect I needed more east and a
stronger wind but still had great time - well over two hours gradually
increasing my times as I found the windy spot - just missing out on 30
knots !!! You had to be very careful as the river is fairly narrow and very
shallow in places and getting back upwind is slow going against the strong
current !!! I was joined by speed buddy Peter Cutts and loads of turns :)
Now starving I had two long broad reaches back for a bit to eat before
having another hour in the bumpy open sea with loads of mates - great day
:)
